Fire Prevention

The Dunkirk Fire Department is an active participant in fire prevention throughout the City of Dunkirk.  Fire prevention is a 365 day a year process for the Dunkirk Fire Department with the annual focal point being the National Fire Prevention Week in October.

During Fire Prevention week the Dunkirk Fire Department visits the students of the Dunkirk Public School District to impart fire safety information in a fun, but educational manner.  New in 2008 the Dunkirk Fire Department introduced an education program for the parents of school age children that were delivered during the schools fall open house.

Schools or other community organizations interested in incorporating fire prevention into their activities are encouraged to contact the Dunkirk Fire Department at Fire Headquarters.
