Keith D. Ahlstrom

A veteran of the Dunkirk Fire Department since 1979, Fire Chief Keith Ahlstrom has served within the Dunkirk Fire Department for 30 years.  Initially appointed chief in 2007 Mr. Ahlstrom is the City of Dunkirk's first career Fire Chief.

Since his appointment in 2007 Chief Ahlstrom has worked to improve and formalize the Department's command structure.  A cornerstone of this program has been the creation of the Captain's position within the Department.   The Department's improved command structure has provided the Department with a consistent, uniform command structure at each emergency scene.

Chief Ahlstrom is a lifelong resident of Dunkirk where he is a very active member of the community.   Chief Ahlstrom has been a member of the Chautauqua County Legislature since 1997 and has served as its Chairman since 2002. Chief Ahlstrom is also an active baseball umpire in Chautauqua County and has previously served on the Dunkirk School Board.
